Urgent request for Action

The Free State Government have introduced the policy of forced integration between Republican prisoners and criminals during transportation, this above the heads of the Prison Service for blatant Political reasons in attempting to criminalise Republican prisoners and erode their Special Status.

The prisoners will be transported in what is known as Dogboxes because it is a box van partitioned into cubicles only big enough for one person to stand upright and turn around.

up to now those political prisoners have been kept separate.

This’ is an attempt to interfere in the running of the prisoners by the government and the next phase in the policy of criminalisation that is an integral part of the GFA to eradicate Republican resistance both inside and outside the prisons.

We call on people to oppose this action by writing to the Department of Justice

And expressing concern that this is a step backward to the confrontational stage within the prisons by those that will justifiably oppose this dangerous move to remove the Special Status and those whose goal is to criminalise political prisoners for their own gains.

We the Republican Prisoners Group on E4 Portlaoise will refuse to cooperate with this attempt at criminalisation and will refuse to share a van with criminals and be party to this blatant attempt at political interference in the prisons for purely political reasons.

E4 Raise Money for Sick Children

A fundraising event was held on E4 Landing by the Republican Prisoners Group on behalf of the Sick Childrens' Hospital in Crumlin recently.

Sponsorship cards were sent out through the CGRP and money was also returned promptly to be depatched to the hospital.

One of the lads shaved his hair, which had been his pride and joy for the last ten years for this very worthy cause.

Also all the Republican Prisoners in the Republican Prisoners Group made and donated crafts for charity which were auctioned off in an auction held by the Education Staff in Portlaoise which did very well indeed.
All craftswere well recieved and there are already talks for it to be held again next year.

All the Republican Prisoners on E4 Landing wish to thank all who help these wortwhile events.

P.O.W.s Statement on Irish Ferries Dispute

The Republican Prisoners Group showed solidarity on E4 Landing on Friday 9th December.

Teaching staff still wanted to go ahead with their classes as they didnt want a reduction in their wages as outlined by Mary Hanafin but the Republican Prisoners showed solidarity with the strike.

Such actions with Irish Ferries will have a domino effect for other companies throughout the working world and exploitation of foreign nationals is unacceptable.
It can only result in poor working conditions and may lead to heightened racism down the line.

These corporate fat cats must be shown that we will not take it lying down and the Free State Goverment have a lot to answer for.

Should Irish Ferries benefit in the end will we see the title "Irish" removed from the ships?

Ler your voices be heard.
